Garden - Part two.

We are finally getting our dirt/soil this week.  So excited and ready to work.  We have been working in the yard for the past week or two, getting things ready when we can.  On Friday, I went and bought a large tomato plant and it already has 3 tomato's on it.    We are going to leave it on the patio in the planter, that is large enough for it.  We are also going to plant blueberry bushes.  Can't wait to see how that turns out.

We could only get two truck loads in last night (Tuesday) before they closed, we will get the other two later this week.  My Mother-in-law came over and helped us, my Mother was here already, she was not dressed to work, so she did other things for us and will help out later.  Allen Jr. and Makaela had a really good time helping out and enjoyed themselves. Then we will plant.

As you can see by our pictures we had fun.  I also found part of a bird egg that must have come from the nest Allen found earlier.   More garden information to come later as we plant, etc.

Getting our Garden started!

We did this a few weeks ago (Spring Break).  Forgot to post.

We have been trying to find time to work in our yard and get the garden started.  We had a idea of how we wanted it to look, but I have been reading and trying to figure everything out.   I also meant to take a book with me on our trip and forgot to pack it.  Since we live in a subdivision, we don't have an enormous place to put a large garden.  In fact, I'm going to plant some things in the black garden pots on our patio.

Allen went to the hardware store and got some supplies and this is what we did.  Made rectangle boxes for our garden.  We are going to have raised garden beds this year and see what happens.  Of course, our plans were to work on this some more, but it started raining (storming) so we stopped.

Can't wait to get our soil and seeds going.  Of course this is just a start.  More work ahead.  Also while working in the yard trimming bushes, Allen found this.....a birds nest.  It is really neat how they build them and what they use to build their nest.

Allen Jr. - Wisdom teeth removed.

Last week on Wednesday we had Allen Jr.'s wisdom teeth removed.  That was an experience.  He did very well over all and now it is just getting him to be patient and take it easy.  That is the hard part, he thinks he can just get up and go, when really, because of the medicine they give him, he could not do that.   I really don't like the medicines, because they make him feel different and he does not know how to deal with it so he is kind of grouchy at times.  Glad that it is over and we have a check up this week, hopefully all will be well.

Spring Break Week

Well, this week has been a fun, busy, week.
Monday - grocery store, cleaned house some, washed clothes and packed.  Also loaded up the van.
Tuesday - left for our trip to Waco, TX.  I know it does not seem like the place to do Spring Break and that is why we choose it.  We had a good trip there even in the rain.  We went to the Dr. Pepper Museum, it was different, but interesting.  Checked in our hotel, then to eat and by then the rain had stopped, so we went to the "Suspension Bridge"/Park and walked around.
Wednesday - Went to the Zoo and park area, then went to the Homestead Heritage , they were both very nice, we had awesome weather, not too cold and not too hot.  The children enjoyed both places and we took loads of pictures.
Thursday - We went to the Texas Rangers Museum, that was very interesting and we learned more about Texas History.  After that went to lunch, went to a Bible Book store and headed back home. We got home a little later than planned, we did make a few more stops on the way home.  We unpacked and started the wash.  (That is the main thing I don't enjoy when we are gone - Laundry)
Friday - more washing, few errands and then we started working in the yard and planning our garden.
Saturday - catch up and getting ready for Church this weekend and next week.

Overall, we had a relaxing trip and a productive week off with the children.

Spring Break - YEA!

We are so happy to have Allen and Dad home with us this week.  Makaela and I are ready for a break.  I know the men are.  It has been very stressful for the past few weeks.  We are ready to just relax and spend time together.   Today is our wedding anniversary.  We have been married for 16 wonderful years.  We celebrated last night by going out to eat and spending time together.  We have several families(youth)  here visiting this weekend from Tyler and other places, so we have had youth outings, church, food, ice cream (which we are serving), etc.  It is a good way to start our week.   We also will be taking our children out of town this week for a few days.  Looking forward to that.

Mystory of History - timeline

We are using the Mystory of History this year and one of the things they encourage is a "Timeline".  They have several recommendations, but one of them is a cutting board for sewing.  We have been making our character's and timeline pieces on the cricut as well.  Makaela and I have had a good time making the timeline and putting it all together.   I can't find the picture of her working on the timeline, but I will post when I find it.

Allen Jr. and Makaela were baptized this past Sunday - February 28, 2010

We were very excited when Makaela said she wanted to get baptized this past Sunday.  The pastor just briefly mentioned something about it and we talked with her, but left the decision up to her.  On Sunday morning we asked, but she said that she wanted to think about it still.  Well, after hearing that Allen Jr. asked if he could, so before services that evening, they had both decided to be baptized.   What a wonderful feeling to see both of my children being baptized and Dad was able to be right there with them both too.

Top Hands Horse Show - Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

Allen and Makaela have Equestrian therapy every other weekend.  Since they do that they are able to enter into the Top Hands Horse show.  This is their second year.  The director of their stables, she entered them into "Showmanship", English Equestrian (Makaela only), Trail and Western Equestrian this year.   They both were moved up a class as well.  Over all they did great!  They came home with 4th place (each) in Showmanship, Trial - 6th place (each), Western Equestrian - they both placed 4th,  Makaela placed 5th in English Equestrian.  We try to make this a fun experience for them and encourage them to do their best.  This year, the director of the stables nominated Allen Jr. to be "King".  She called us on Saturday morning and told us to hurry and get there, Allen as picked.  He was the "King" of Top Hands Horse Show, he received a trophy and a sash.  Allen was so excited and he had a good time.

February - time flying by.

The month of February seemed to fly by.  As a family, we had several things going on and I had started some post, but was unable to finish them.  Over the next week you will see a few things we have been doing during February and now into March.

Super Friday class work - a Scientist

Makaela has three classes on Friday's which is called "Super Friday", this semester she has Science for one of her classes.  The teacher is having them study the "Heart" and other organs.  She had to read about William Harvey for her scientist and then she had to make a small poster with his birth date, when he died and two of his beliefs.  Makaela decided to make the parts on the cricut (with help from Mom) to make it look nice.  Her teacher really liked it and said she did a good job.
